TAIPEI -- Foxconn's cellphone manufacturing business unit forecast a larger first-half loss on weaker demand and higher costs.

Foxconn International Holdings did not disclose its anticipated loss, but said it would be greater than the $17.7 million net loss posted in the first half last year.

FIH turned around in the second half of 2011, generating $90.5 million in profits during the period.

Foxconn is a major supplier to Nokia, Apple and other leading cellphone providers.
