PATHUMTANI, THAILAND -- SVI Public Co. reported first quarter net income of 271 million baht ($8.64 million), up 23% from last year.

Revenue for the period ended March 31 fell 36% year-over-year to $52 million (1.59 billion baht), but rose 86% from the December quarter as the EMS company recovered from the severe Thailand flooding that took much of its capacity offline. Demand rose for IP video and industrial equipment, the company said.

Gross profit fell 47% to 143 million baht.

SVI Public Co. ranked 47th last year among the world's largest contract printed circuit board assemblers, according to the CIRCUITS ASSEMBLY Top 50.
