CHENGDU -- Foxconn's campus here was reportedly the scene of a massive riot Monday night as as many as 1,000 workers faced off against company security guards.

Local police were brought in the restrain the crowd, dozens of whom were arrested, according to WantChinaTimes.

As guards attempted to corral an alleged thief in a male dorm, a group of workers reportedly hindered their efforts. They were soon joined by hundreds more, who threw everything from trash bins to chairs to bottles from the top floor of the building.

They were restrained after two hours by hundreds of police officers, who arrested dozens of workers.

The Chengdu site builds everything from printed circuit board assemblies to metal polishing, and Foxconn has targeted the inland China campus as the foundation of its efforts to migrate manufacturing away from the Southeastern China coastline. In May 2011, it was the scene of a deadly explosion.
