TAIPEI -- Foxconn chief executive Cheng Tien (Terry) Cheng will step down July 31 due to health reasons, several media sites are reporting.

Cheng was promoted to CEO in January after five years at Foxconn Technology Group, where he was responsible for formulating, driving and implementing business initiatives and strategies. He previously was president, Asia at Texas Instruments and president, China at Hewlett-Packard.

According to Bloomberg, the contract electronics assembler will name Calvin Chih interim CEO.
