WASHINGTON, DC -- The US Interagency Trade Enforcement Center formed this year has set its sights on six nations, one of which is China, according to reports.

The mission of the ITEC, which was established by an executive order issued by President Obama in February, is to remove trade barriers to US exports.

While the ITEC hasn't officially named the countries targeted, one of them is China, according to comments reportedly made by US Trade Representative general counsel Tim Reif. Reif added that the ITEC is likely to add other countries to the mix, but he has declined to name those countries.

The ITEC coordinates trade enforcement efforts by the USTR, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, and the various Cabinet departments. It also considers potential violations of international trade agreements by foreign countries, and conducts outreach with goal to identify and reduce or eliminate foreign trade barriers and unfair foreign trade practices.
