ZALAEGERSZEG, HUNGARY – Flextronics plans to lay off 1,100 employees from its plants here, according to published reports.
A local labor official said the contract assembly indicated it intends to fire 950 blue-collar and 150 white-collar employees, mostly in December. The cuts will lower the EMS provider's Hungary headcount to a reported 2,000.
The firm already laid off some 500 workers in Hungary this year after RIM cut its smartphone orders.
