Foxconn to Expand N. American Ops
TAIPEI – Foxconn said it plans to expand its North American operations, according to published reports.
Foxconn says the plans are a result of customers desiring more manufacturing in the US. No specific customers were cited.
Separately, Foxconn's biggest name customer says it will move some PC production to the US.
Apple CEO Tim Cook said the firm would invest some $100 million to relocate certain Mac PC production to the US next year. In an interview with Bloomberg Businessweek, Cook added that the migration "doesn't mean that Apple will do it ourselves, but we'll be working with people." He did not disclose any suppliers names in the interview.
Foxconn, the world's largest electronics manufacturer, currently has US assembly sites in California, Florida and Texas.
