LOD, ISRAEL -- Sanmina is considering closing its electronics assembly plant here, according to local reports. The site is a major supplier to Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, the maker of Israel's anti-missile defense system known as Iron Dome.

Rafael sources indicated the defense contractor has found alternate suppliers out of concern that Sanmina would pare or shutter its Lod site.

The plant employs some 300 workers.

Sanmina's contract to supply printed circuit board assemblies for the Tamir missiles used in Iron Dome runs out in March 2013, the Globes said. Defense officials said other firms haven't stopped ordering from Sanmina, however.
