PHOENIX, AZ -- Suntron has signed a definitive agreement to sell its Methuen, MA-based Embedded Computing Solutions business unit to Axiomtek USA, the North American subsidiary of Taiwan-based Axiomtek.

Axiomtek, a global provider of industrial computers, has collaborated with Suntron for more than 10 years, the companies said. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Suntron will continue to focus on its core capabilities, providing electronics manufacturing services and solutions to support high reliability products within the aerospace and defense, medical, industrial, network and telecommunications and other markets.

"With the added experience and skill set of ECS, we are now poised to provide our customers with a portfolio of robust industrial computing products along with outsourcing services anchored by operational excellence," said YT Yang, CEO and president of Axiomtek. "It is a perfect match."

The ECS operations will be renamed Axiomtek Systems and will remain in the Methuen facility. Customers will be transitioned the new owners.

Once one of the larger US-based EMS companies, Suntron has been paring its operations and selling or closing operations across the US.
