OnCore Opens Tijuana Medical EMS Site
TIJUANA, MEXICO -- OnCore Manufacturing Services celebrated the ribbon-cutting on its 88,000 sq. ft. electronics assembly facility here, which will be ready for volume production later this month.
The new site is located in the Otay-Caliente Industrial Park, and is tailored for medical device and industrial customers. It can be enlarged to 175,000 sq. ft. The plant is OnCore's third in Baja california. It also has a 50,000 sq. ft. site in Nueva Tijuana, and a plant in Rosarito.
The expansion was first reported by CIRCUITS ASSEMBLY in January.
"We are increasing our existing Tijuana capacity in response to customer demand for a robust, low-cost supply-base that has a short and flexible supply-chain able to service the US market," said Sajjad Malik, President and CEO of OnCore. "By leveraging the proximity of OnCore’s San Diego facility, the new Tijuana facility provides our customers with a range of highly flexible manufacturing and near-shore fulfillment options. The new site is capable of fulfilling customers’ product manufacturing requirements from board assembly to finished product and includes lean 'focused factory' production cells for assembly of finished medical devices and industrial instruments."
The contract assembler celebrated the opening of the Tijuana site with an open-house event and ribbon cutting ceremony. The event was attended by OnCore customers, suppliers, and various media and government officials, including Lic. Renato Sandoval - Secretary of Labor State of Baja California and Lic. Miguel Velasco Bustamante - EDC City of Tijuana.
OnCore also has PCB assembly plants in Springfield and Wilmington, MA; Longmont, CO; San Marcos, Fremont and San Jose, CA; and Suzhou, China. The company ranked 43d on the latest CIRCUITS ASSEMBLY Top 50.
