DUBLIN, IRELAND -- Global sales of nondestructive test equipment will grow at an annual compound rate of 7.82% from 2012 to 2016, a new report forecasts.

Rapid infrastructure development across the world, especially in the BRIC nations, is behind the trend, says the report's author, TechNavio.

The firm cites the recent global economic slowdown as a potential challenge to the growth rate.

Key vendors in the space as identified by TechNavio are GE Inspection Technologies, Olympus NDT, Yxlon, and Magnaflux.

TechNavio said in a statement, ''One of the emerging trends in the is the miniaturization of testing equipment. Miniaturized equipment is flexible and easy to use. The fast growth in the various industrial segments is leading to the development of small size devices for which miniaturized testing equipment are required. For instance, the testing equipment used in automotive components and other minute components need to be very small in size. Thus the vendors are moving toward the trend of miniaturization.''
