ZHENGZHOU, CHINA – Two Foxconn workers jumped from their dorm buildings to their deaths at the firm’s plant here on Apr. 24 and 27, according to published reports.
The alleged victims were a 24-year-old male and a 23-year-old female. The male worker was hired Apr. 21 and had completed training Apr. 23. The female employee had been with the electronics firm for about six months.
A "silent mode" rule that bans workers from discussing anything unrelated to work at a volume loud enough for a third party to hear is being blamed, reports say.
The Zhengzhou plant may have abolished the rule as a result of the suicides.
