HERNDON, VAiNEMI’s board has elected longtime director Marc Benowitz chairman. He supersedes Nasser Grayeli, who chaired the organization since 2002.

Benowitz is senior director, reliability and eco-environmental engineering, at Alcatel-Lucent. He has been a member of the iNEMI board since 2001, and is the fifth person elected to serve as chairman of the consortium.

Grayeli, of Intel, is the longest-serving chairman of iNEMI. He oversaw its expansion to become a more international organization, the hiring of Bill Bader as president, and a dramatic increase in the breadth and depth of its technical projects.

Finally, three new members have been added to the board: Murad Kurwa, vice president of the advanced engineering group, Flextronics; Mostafa Aghazadeh, vice president, Intel; and Jo De Boeck, senior vice president and CTO of imec.

Byung Joon (BJ) Han, executive vice president and CTO, STATS ChipPAC, was reelected to the board.

Sundar Kamath, senior vice president of technology for Sanmina, has retired from the board.
