CHENNAI, INDIASanmina said it would make India a hub of its global IT operations and would increase manufacturing here.

 

The firm’s new manufacturing complex near Chennai represents an investment of more than $4.1 million and will initially employ about 1,400. The EMS company plans to increase employment to about 10,000 workers over the next five years.

The manufacturing campus will cater to the medical, defense and aerospace, communications, automotive, and multimedia and consumer markets. A major portion of the manufacturing at the site will be for the local market, the firm says.
