NEUNKIRCHEN, GERMANY -- Neways Electronics has been forced to cease all production activities at its German subsidiary following a major fire that gutted the facility. The contract electronics assembler says the blaze at Neways Electronics Kassel occurred Friday evening and resulted in no injuries.
The cause remains under investigation.
NEK is located in Neunkirchen and has a workforce of around 150 employees.
Neways management says no toxic substances escaped and there was no danger to local residents. As a result of the fire, Neways has been forced to shut down all production activities at NEK. "We believe the production and storage spaces are completely lost," the company said.
All production for NEK clients will be transferred as quickly as possible to other operating companies within Neways, the company said.
