CHATSWORTH, CA -- Natel will acquire Epic Technologies this week, according to CIRCUITS ASSEMBLY sources.

A pair of sources have confirmed to CIRCUITS ASSEMBLY that Natel will acquire the fellow EMS company, creating a company with about $350 million in annual sales.

The deal will likely make Natel the largest privately held US-based EMS company.

Natel is the smaller of the companies, with annual revenues of about $100 million. Epic, which is owned by an investment company, was attractive because of its heavy market penetration in automotive and industrial.

Natel has an SMT site in Chatsworth, and thick film operations in Carlsbad, CA and Carson City, NV; while Epic has plants in Norwalk and Mason, OH; Juarez, Mexico; and Timisoara, Romania. According to CIRCUITS ASSEMBLY sources, all plants are expected to remain open.
