NEW TAIPEI CITY, TAIWAN -- New Kinpo Group plans to invest some NT$3 billion (US$100 million) to expand production in Southeast Asia and Brazil. The investments will boost capacity for printers, hard disk drives and set-top boxes, company executives said.

The company will expand at its sites in China, Thailand, the Philippines and Brazil, group president and founderRock Hsu said, according to DigiTimes. NKP includes top EMS firm Cal-Comp Electronics, plus PC peripheral OEM Kinpo Electronics and power supply maker AcBel Polytech. Kinpo is also the parent of Compal.

Cal-Comp alone will add a reported 4,000 to 6,000 workers in Thailand and 2,000 more in Brazil.

Cal-Comp expects to ship 100,000 3D printers, 10 million printers, 50 million external HDDs and 25 million STBs in 2014, DigiTimes reports.
