SAN JOSE — The 90-day moving average orders at North America-based semiconductor equipment manufacturers rose 48.3% year-over-year in December. Manufacturers reported $1.38 billion in orders worldwide in December, the SEMI trade group announced today.

The book-to-bill ratio of 1.02, according to SEMI. A ratio of 1.02 means that $102 worth of orders were received for every $100 of product billed for the month.

Worldwide bookings were up 11.1% from the revised November level of $1.24 billion, and 48.3% above December 2012. The December 90-day average bookings were at the highest level since June 2012.

The three-month average worldwide billings in December was $1.35 billion, up 20.8% from November and 33.8% higher than December 2012.

The SEMI book-to-bill is a ratio of three-month moving averages of worldwide bookings and billings for North American-based semiconductor equipment manufacturers.
