OSAKA, JAPAN -- Sales at Panasonic's Automotive and Industrial Systems unit increased 9% from a year ago to 2.1 billion yen, aided by currency effects and new demand for automotive infotainment systems.
Segment profit increased 217% to 86.4 billion yen due mainly to favorable sales in automotive-related business and positive currency effects. The quarter ended Dec. 31.
The division includes Panasonic Factory Automation, which makes screen printers, component placement machines and inspection equipment for the SMT industry.
