LONDON -- ITRI Innovation will sponsor a series of webinars on current issues ranging from electronics reliability to solder evaluation this spring, the association announced today.

The first webinar, How to Prove the Reliability of New Electronic Products, will be held on March 11, at 2:30 pm GMT. Other webinars include evaluating a new solder, and PCB defect detection. Each webinar will last 45-60 minutes and is free of charge. ITRI Innovation will also be hosting an ‘Auditing and qualification of lead-free production process’ workshop in June.

The first webinar, given by Dominic Lodge, solder technology manager ITRI, will give guidance on the methods and sequence of tests typically used for reliability testing, and will include a question and answer session. The second webinar, to be held April 28 at 2:30 pm GMT, will be presented by Henkel Electronics. Dr. Wayne Lam, laboratory manager at ITRI Innovation, will host the third webinar on June 16, also at 2:30 pm GMT. He will explain the common types of faults that may occur within an electronic assembly and how to choose a laboratory which has the expertise and resources required for finding out why a fault has occurred and how to fix it.

“We are aware of the ongoing testing issues facing the electronics industry and thus we are offering a series of free webinars with high quality speakers;” comments Dr. Jeremy Pearce, technology team leader, ITRI Innovation.

ITRI will also hold a workshop at its laboratories to assist process, quality and design engineers who are making the change to lead-free production. Attendees can bring boards and assemblies or products that have been converted to lead-free for discussion of any problems which may have been encountered. The cost of that event will be £150 + VAT.
