MEDINA, MA -- Reportedly sued last week by a competitor, ASC International today responded with a statement dismissing VisionMaster's claims of product piracy.

“ASC International will not allow random companies to report claims of product infringement based upon frivolous accusations against our company," the firm said in a statement.

"VisionMaster’s unlawful attempt to harvest private information from ASC’s customer base by using a 'Phishing' technique will not be tolerated. ASC International has never entered into any business relationship with this newly formed company and all claims associated with this undocumented press release should be considered malicious. ASC International will use every legal option available to protect its intellectual property and — most importantly — the privacy of our customers.”

In an announcement on the eve of the IPC Apex Expo trade show, VisionMaster alleges ASC, a manufacturer of SPI and AOI systems, illegally copied VisionMaster’s proprietary hardware and software and subsequently sold it to numerous customers under the VisionMaster and VisionPro labels. VisionMaster claims it has filed suit in a Maine county court. ASC, however, says it has not been served papers or even seen a copy of the suit.

VisionMaster says ASC was an authorized distributor of VisionMaster's SPI machines from 1998 till 2010, and reportedly had a noncompete clause for several years after.

ASC asserted that it has never been an authorized distributor of VisionMaster.
