LOS ANGELES -- Ducommun reported first-quarter sales at its EMS business unit slipped 4.9% year-over-year to $98.1 million on slower defense spending. The DLT segment's operating income for the quarter was down 11.4% to $7 million, while EBITDA slid $500,000 to $12.1 million.

The contract assembly unit saw defense technology demand decrease 9.3% in the period ended March 29, partially offset by a 2.1% increase in for non-aerospace and defense products.

Overall, Ducommun's revenue grew to $179.8 million from $175.9 million in the prior-year period, and net income was $4.6 million, up 24% from 2013.
