NEW YORK -- The International Trade Commission has launched an investigation to determine whether imports of certain ICs and end-products

are violating US patent infringement law under the 1930 Tariff Act.

The ITC undertook the measure after an Freescale Semiconductor complaint asking for an ITC exclusion order, which would direct US Customs to ban entry of any infringing products, and cease-and-desist orders, which would require the respondents to stop elling any infringing imported articles out of US inventory.

The respondents in the investigation are located in Taiwan, Japan, Malaysia, China, Mexico and the US.
