BEAVERTON, OR --  Vanguard EMS has named Andy Hyatt chief executive officer, effective immediately.

Hyatt comes to Vanguard from Creation Technologies, where he spent the past four and a half years as executive vice president. He has been in contract assembly since 1996, and has held management positions with Plexus, Solectron and EFTC.

In a statement, Vanguard chairman Floyd Sutz said, “We are delighted to report that Andy is taking the helm at Vanguard. We plan to grow substantially in the next five years, and Andy has the experience and ability to help make that happen. He has a track record of achieving outstanding results in increasingly responsible positions during his career in our industry, and we are excited about him making a great contribution to Vanguard as its new CEO.”

Hyatt said, “I am honored to have this opportunity to join the Vanguard team. I believe the electronics industry in the West is primed for growth, and I look forward to leading Vanguard as we capitalize on that growth. I have been impressed with Vanguard’s people, customer base, its 20-plus year track record of success and its Tier 1 facility and capabilities. That combination will be formidable as we move forward.”

Vanguard builds electronics assemblies for the medical, defense, industrial and test and measurement markets. It has a 77,000 sq. ft. facility in Beaverton, and has been in business since 1988.
