MINNEAPOLIS – Nortech Systems reported net sales of $27.4 million for the second quarter ended June 30, down 3.9% year-over-year and up 5% sequentially.

The electronics manufacturer’s net income rose 32% to $247,000 compared to the same period last year. Results for the second quarter included a $100,000 benefit from a tax audit settlement.

Operating income was $347,000, down 7% year-over-year, and up 47% sequentially.

The firm says new orders are rising, with backlogs posting year-over-year increases the past two quarters.

For the six months ended June 30, Nortech reported net sales of $53.6 million, down 1.5% year-over-year.

Net income for the six-month period was $333,000, up 1.5% year-over-year.
