ARLINGTON, VA – Consumer electronic revenues are expected to increase 3% to a record $223.2 billion in 2015, according to the Consumer Electronics Association.

Revenue for emerging products is expected to double, rising 108% year-over-year in 2015.

Emerging products are less than 5% of consumer electronics industry revenue, but are expected to account for almost $11 billion in overall CE revenue this year.

The association expects overall wearable device sales to reach 30.9 million units, up 61% year-over-year, boosting revenue 133% to $5.1 billion.

Health and fitness devices are expected to lead unit sales among wearables this year, with a projected 20 million units and more than $1.8 billion in revenue.

Smartphone unit shipments are expected to reach 169.3 million, up 6% year-over-year in 2015. Smartphone revenues are forecast to reach $51.3 billion, up 5% compared to 2014.

Tablets unit sales are expected to grow 3% year-over-year to 80.7 million, with revenues down 1% to $24.9 billion.

TVs are the third-largest contributor to total revenue, with TV set and display sales expected to reach $18.3 billion in 2015, down 2% year-over-year.

Unit shipments of 4K UHD displays will grow 208% to four million this year, with revenues exceeding $5 billion, up 106%.

Automotive electronics will grow 3.3% to $14 billion in revenue this year.
