TOKYO -- Yamaha reported sales at its Industrial Machinery unit rose 20.7% year-over-year to 38.9 billion yen (about $328 million) for 2014.
The unit makes surface mount equipment, industrial robots and electric wheelchairs.
Sales in North America rose 12% to 2 billion yen. Sales in Asia, Yamaha IM's largest market, were up 23% to 17.4 billion yen.
Yamaha said sales of SMT equipment rose in Asia, Europe and China due to the economic recovery and the release of new systems. It plans to aggressively court the high-speed market with its acquisition of Hitachi's SMT business unit.
