SRIPERUMBUDUR, INDIA – An Indian court has put a temporary hold preventing a Foxconn subsidiary from removing machinery from its plant here following a petition filed by former workers at the plant, according to reports.
The Madras High Court directed Foxconn India to leave the plant intact until the case is decided.
The court was acting on a petition from four former Foxconn employees, who asserted the plant was closed Feb. 10 without following mandatory procedures under the national Industrial Disputes Act.
The workers want the plant to be reopened. Foxconn said it shut down operations here after its largest local customer, Nokia, cut its orders.
