TEDDINGTON, LONDON – Smart Group is holding its European Conference Sept. 22 and 23 at the National Physical Laboratory here.

European Conference 2015, plus Industry 4.0: Your Opportunities and Industry Trends will include a tabletop exhibition.

On the first day, Martin Cotton, Ventec International, will present Making the Right Decisions at the Right Time in the PCB Design Process. Martin Wickham, NPL, will discuss Elimination of Tin Whiskers – The Best Options. Bob Skipper, Edif ERA, will address Reliability Failure and Contamination in the Real World, and Charles Cawthorne, MBDA, will present Selective Soldering – Implementation, Board Design and Optimization – A User’s View. Bob Willis and Dr. Chris Hunt, NPL, will share Laser and Contact Soldering Practical Use for Lead-Free and HT, and Dave Hillman, Rockwell Collins, will address the IPC Conformal Coating Material and Application State of the Industry Assessment Project.

On the second day, Sue Knight, STI, will present Successful Audits to IPC, AS9100 and NADCAP – What Any Company Must Know. Richard Boyle, Henkel, will discuss 0201-01005 and Smaller Passives – Getting the Best Assembly Yields. Fiona Lambert, Microsemi, will present Future of High Temperature Interconnect, and Roya Ashayer, Soltani and NPL, will share Business Opportunity in Wearable Technology. Chris Hunt, NPL, will discuss High Temperature Manufacture: an Opportunity for CEMs, and Rockwell's Doug Pauls will present Experiments with Nano Coatings for Environmental Protection of PCB Assemblies.

The second day, Industry 4.0: Your Opportunities and Industry Trends will be presented. Experts will share their views of the current global manufacturing makeup and what will shape our tomorrow.

The Industry 4.0 management session will include a keynote from ASM Assembly Systems’ COO Günter Schindler on how the company sees industry 4.0 and how to get on the path to the smart factory of the future. Vitor Barros from KIC Thermal will discuss making ovens one of the smartest parts of the line. Dr. Friedrich Nolting from Aegis Software will present on the paperless transparent factory, and Keith Bryant from SmartLoop will discuss intelligent feedback loop and how a real cyber physical system can benefit the product when machines talk together and are integrated.
