BANNOCKBURN, IL — Jacek Majchrzak of PartnerTech bested 46 competitors to win the IPC Hand Soldering Competition at Productronica this month.
Majchrzak took home first place with a score of 501 points out of a maximum 506, repeating his victory from 2013.
Marchrzak won a cash prize of €300, a hand soldering station from JBC Tools and a spot at the IPC Hand Soldering World Championship at IPC Apex Expo in Las Vegas next year.
In second place with a score of 496 was Michal Raus of RealTime Technologies, who won €200, while Christian Vodermaier of Avantest Europe took third, winning €100 with a score of 492.
Participants had 60 minutes to build a functional electronics assembly. Fifteen of the 47 participants completed the task on time, IPC said.
A panel of independent MIT (Master IPC Trainer) judges from IFTEC and PIEK International Education Centre evaluated each assembly based on workmanship, overall functionality, compliance with IPC-A-610F Class 3 criteria and speed of completion.
