LIVINGSTON, SCOTLAND -- Plexus will reduce headcount by more than one-third at its operations here due to end-market slowdowns.
The EMS company said the move to let go 50 workers could save more than $1 million a year in operating costs and would be completed by February.
Plexus will maintain its PCB design operations in Livingston, while moving its manufacturing to Kelso, Scotland.
STV News is reporting lower demand in the oil and gas industry is to blame for the cuts. "Changing end-market dynamics, particularly within the oil and gas industry, have required us to reduce our UK capacity to match customer demand," the source quotes EMEA regional president Oliver Mihm as saying.
