SANTA ANA, CA – ParPro has acquired Cal Quality Electronics in a move to extend the Taiwanese company's reach into the North American ODM/EMS market.
Terms of the acquisition were not immediately disclosed. Cal Quality was owned by Churchill Equity, a private investment firm based in Minneapolis.
Santa Ana, CA-based Cal Quality is a full-service provider of complex, high-reliability electronics assemblies, offering a full suite of EMS capabilities, including custom printed circuit board assembly, surface-mount technology assembly, through-hole assembly, cable and wire harness assembly, electromechanical assembly and system build.
The acquisition is expected to expand ParPro’s US-based EMS capabilities and complement its "global ODM strategy," providing customers with a total solution that extends far beyond traditional electronics manufacturing services.
ParPro has ODM, EMS and sheet metal facilities in Taipei and the Chung-Li Industrial Zone in Taiwan, where it has eight SMT lines. It also has machining operations in the US and Mexico. It had a net loss from continuing operations of $469,000 in 2015, and its year to date sales are running about 20% lower than last year.
Founded in 2001 ParPro (formerly Pilot Electronics Corp.) has grown by acquisition over the past several years. In 2012 it acquired an aerospace manufacturing company which became its Mexico subsidiary, then in 2013 bought EMT West, a metal fabricator. In late 2014, ParPro acquired Carlsbad, CA-based embedded design company JumpGen Systems.
Lincoln International served as financial advisor to Churchill and Cal Quality in the transaction.
