TAIPEI -- The EMS division of Advanced Semiconductor Engineering reported revenues of NT$24.7 billion ($769 million) for the period ended March 31.
Sales at Universal Scientific Industrial were down 12.5% year-over-year. Gross margin increased 80 basis points sequentially to 8.1%, while operating margin decreased 120 basis points over the same period to 1.5%.
Capital expenditures at USI amounted to US$2 million during the quarter.
EMS made up 40% of the company's overall revenues for the March period.
Overall net revenues were NT$62.4 billion for the quarter, down 4% year-over-year and 17% sequentially. Net income was NT$4.16 billion, down 6.9% from a year ago.
ASE, the world's largest independent provider of packaging services and testing services, expects its EMS business to decline "moderately" on a quarter over quarter basis in the current period. USI is the world's 11th largest EMS/ODM, according to the CIRCUITS ASSEMBLY Top 50.
