IRVINE, CA – Avnet named William Amelio interim CEO, replacing Rick Hamada, who is stepping down.

Amelio was CEO of CHC Group, an oil fields services company, and also worked at Lenovo and Dell.

The electronic components and storage systems firm also downgraded guidance for its fiscal fourth quarter. Sales are expected to be $6.15 billion to $6.25 billion, about $100 million less than previously forecast.

"This shortfall was impacted primarily by an ERP implementation in the Americas region of the Electronics Marketing operating group," the company said in a statement.
