BAWAL, HARYANA, INDIA -- Karbonn Mobiles has opened a handset manufacturing facility here, its third in India, and plans to hire up to 4,000 new workers.
The new site has 22 assembly lines and will produce up to 30 million handsets annually when fully operational.
The company, which hopes to surpass Foxconn as India's largest cellphone maker, will make 2.5 million units at the new 10-acre site by year-end.
Karbonn is India's third-largest cellphone maker.
Karbonn also has manufacturing facilities in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, and one in the works in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. The company plans to diversify into TVs in the near future as well.
