ELVA, ESTONIA -- Enics will invest up to 5 million euros ($5.5 million) to expand its EMS factory here, the company announced.
The 42,000 sq. ft. expansion will include a 33,000 sq. ft. addition to the manufacturing floor to accommodate higher volume production, and is slated to begin this month.
"In an environment led by global megatrends where manufacturing of electronic systems becomes more and more automated and at the same time needs to be more flexible, we have seen the opportunity to grow and sharpen our high-tech focus," said Hannu Keinänen, president and CEO of Enics Group. "Enics Elva is a strong part of the Enics network. Based on the proven competencies and capabilities we have in place at Elva already today, we believe that now is the perfect time to invest in further growth."
Site manager Jaanus Aal added: "We are proud to continue the growth path of the Elva site by launching the fourth expansion since its establishment. The construction work to build additional 3000 sq. m manufacturing floor space and 900 sq. m office facilities starts in October. The new expansion will be ready for production during the third quarter in 2017. For the coming years, we are planning a significant number of new workplaces, including positions for well-educated professionals and specialists related to electronic manufacturing services."
The Elva factory focuses on higher-volume production for leading industrial electronics customers. It is the biggest private employer in southern Estonia, with around 650 workers.
The plant is currently 280,000 sq. ft., making it third-largest of the company's eight plants. Enics ranked 34th in the CIRCUITS ASSEMBLY Top 50 last year.
