WASHINGTON – Key tech industry issues are receiving broad bipartisan support, according to the public policy trade group ITI. Successes include passage of permanent tax extenders, the USA Freedom Act, cyber information sharing legislation, and the Judicial Redress Act, the association says in its latest ITI Congressional Tech Voting Guide.
The document reviewed votes cast by the House and Senate in the 114th Congress (2015-2016), which serves as both a report card for members of Congress and highlights the tech industry’s legislative priorities.
“The conventional wisdom in Washington is to not expect too much to get accomplished from a divided government,” said Andy Halataei, ITI senior vice president of government affairs. “However, even with intense headwinds our voting guide shows the tech industry was able to find success in key policy areas that will benefit innovation and job creation for Americans across our country.”
ITI is a trade group that advocates for public policies that advance innovation, open markets, and enable the transformational economic, societal, and commercial opportunities. Its membership includes technology companies ranging from internet companies to manufacturers of hardware and networking equipment to software developers.
