SINGAPORE -- Kulicke and Soffa reported second fiscal quarter revenue rose 28% year-over-year to $199.6 million.

For the period ended Apr. 1, income from operations was $32.6 million, up 179%, while net income rose 471% to $29 million.

Ball bonder equipment net revenue increased 46.1% sequentially, while wedge bonder equipment net revenue rose 5.5%.

Dr. Fusen Chen, K&S's president and chief executive, said, “Automotive, industrial, mobile, LED, and IOT related wireless-connectivity applications are all driving the strong level of current demand in our business. The higher level of wire bonding, wedge bonding and expendable tools demand highlights the pervasive nature of our core business during the current period of industry capacity expansion."

The company guided for fiscal third quarter net revenue of $235 million to $245 million.
