JANESVILLE, WI — A lack of suitable workers means Foxconn Technology Group won't be coming to southern Wisconsin after all, local city officials said.
The world's largest EMS/ODM had made inquiries earlier this year about locating a massive plant in the Janesville area, but is no longer considering the site. City manager Mark Freitag acknowledged to local media that the company's initial interest in June but also indicated that the town is no lioner under consideration.
According to Freitag, Janesville's labor pool is not large enough to handle the anticipated size of the Foxconn workforce. Some estimates have pegged that number as close to 10,000.
Foxconn will likely run into similar issues at the other Midwestern locations it is reported to be reviewing.
