SEBERANG JAYA, MALAYSIA -- PIE Industrial is allocating more than $7 million toward an expansion of its PCB assembly operations here.

The company plans to convert a warehouse here into an EMS assembly facility. It will also add some 11 SMT lines, bringing its total to 25.

The capacity increase is scheduled to come online in 2019.

Company officials says the decision comes on the heels of higher orders and the potential to win several new large contracts.

PIE Industrial operates under the names Pan-International Electronics (Malaysia), PIE Enterprise, Pan-International Corp., Pan-International Wire & Cable, P.I.W. Enterprise (Malaysia), and Pan-International Electronics (Thailand). It has revenue last year of about $170 million.
