MILPITAS, CA — North America-based semiconductor equipment manufacturers posted $2.7 billion in billings worldwide in May, up 19.2% from a year ago.
The three-month average billings were 0.6% higher than the revised April figure, SEMI said.
"May monthly global billings of North American equipment manufacturers exceeded April's level to set yet another record,” said Ajit Manocha, president and CEO, SEMI. “Demand for semiconductor equipment remains strong on the back of smart, data-centric applications such as artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), big data, and edge computing.”
