BATANGAS, PHILIPPINES -- Construction has begun on a massive new EMS plant for Cal-Comp Electronics's local subsidiary.
The 258,000 sq. ft. plant is scheduled to open next year and will double the top 20 EMS provider's workforce by 2020, the company said.
Cal-Comp Technology currently employs 3,000 workers at its 1.51 million sq. ft. plant at the Lima Technology Center in Lipa City, Batangas, which opened in 2015.
“We are on track in making the Philippines our next main manufacturing hub in Southeast Asia, and we will grow our capacity down the line to reach more customers here and across the globe,” said Simon Shen, chief executive, Cal-Comp Philippines, in a statement.
Cal-Comp's parent company, New Kinpo Group, is also expanding in Sto. Tomas, Batangas. The ODM will add more than 500,000 sq ft. of manufacturing space there.
Cal-Comp will finance the expansions with funds raised through an IPO on the Philippine Stock Exchange.
