BATAM ISLAND, INDONESIA – Pegatron plans to shift production of non-iPhone products affected by US tariffs on Chinese exports to a facility here within the next six months, according to reports. The move is expected to begin this month.
The rented factory has the capacity to employ more than 8,000 workers.
Pegatron is reportedly also considering northern Vietnam as a possible manufacturing location, and the company’s new locations could include three Southeast Asia countries.
The firm’s set-top boxes and other smart devices account for nearly $1 billion in annual revenue.
