TAIPEI – Foxconn said it is attempting to recruit for more than 50,000 jobs in China during the first quarter of 2019.

A different report last week stated Foxconn has laid off some 50,000 workers in China since October. This came weeks after Apple slashed current production of iPhones 10%, as a result of slowing demand in the region.

At Foxconn's campus in Zhengzhou, thousands of temporary workers and some staff left voluntarily, say reports, because of lack of weekend work and overtime, plus a reduction in bonuses.
