TAIPEI – Pegatron has signed a letter of intent to invest $695 million to $1 billion in an Indonesian factory to assemble iPhone chips, according to reports.

The company plans to partner with PT Sat Nusapersada to assemble the chips at the plant.

In the long-term, Pegatron may assemble MacBook components there as well.
