WAYZATA, MN – Nortech Systems reported first quarter net sales of $27.4 million, a decrease of 3% year-over-year.

Net income was $137,000, compared to net loss of $363,000 in the first quarter of 2019. Operating income was $391,000, compared to a loss of $104,000 for the year-ago period.

Nortech’s backlog as of Mar. 31 was $53 million.

Covid-19 is causing supply-chain disruptions and workforce issues. Parts deliveries to Nortech have been delayed, resulting in slower end-product delivery and delayed customer payments.

"I want to express my admiration and sincere gratitude to our employees who are managing through this crisis with ingenuity and professionalism. I commend your work ethic and dedication to serving Nortech's customers during this difficult time," said CEO and president Jay D. Miller.

Nortech’s highest priority is the safety and well-being of its employees and other members in the Nortech community. In all of Nortech’s locations, teams have been taking precautions to ensure a clean and safe environment. Nortech is opting for virtual meetings, minimizing travel, and when possible, asking team members to work remotely.

Nortech is also working closely with its suppliers and customers to ensure it is taking every feasible step to minimize disruption and continue to deliver products.

Nortech will continue to monitor the most up-to-date information from regulatory authorities in the US, China and Mexico, where its facilities are located. Nortech senior management is in constant contact and will adapt its response as information is available.
