GUJARAT, INDIA – The India Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA) formed a capital goods committee to address technology gaps in the EMS and cellphone sectors in the country, according to reports. Foxconn India managing director Josh Foulger will head the committee.
The committee “has been formed to review the scheme on enhancement of competitiveness in the Indian capital goods sector and review changes to facilitate manufacturing depth under Make in India through technology depth and to evaluate a framework to support R&D and sourcing of cutting-edge technology in the field of capital goods, robotics, and instrumentation,” ICEA said in a statement.
The committee will focus on patent filing, IP creation, global standardization forums, and incentives to promote international R&D cooperation and reverse engineering.
ASM Technologies is among the companies participating.
