HAMBURG, GERMANY – After a review of the market and its personnel, Scanfil has decided to shutter its electronics assembly factory here. The EMS company will take one-time restructuring charges of approximately €6 million in the fourth quarter as result of the closing.

The shutdown is scheduled to be completed by the end of the third quarter of 2021. The action is expected to result in annual cost savings of approximately €2.5 million.

On Jul. 1, the firm said it would scale down its operations at the site, and the company recently completed a consultation process concerning its personnel. Production will continue in Wutha-Farnroda, Germany, and Sieradz, Poland.

The shutdown will have no impact on Scanfil’s financial outlook for 2020.
