BAC GIANG, VIETNAM – Vietnam awarded a license to Foxconn to build a $270 million plant to produce laptops and tablets here, according to reports.
Fukang Technology will develop the plant, which is expected to produce eight million units annually.
So far, Foxconn has invested $1.5 billion in Vietnam and plans to increase its investment $700 million and recruit 10,000 more local workers in 2021. Foxconn is also looking into an investment of $1.3 billion in Thanh Hoa, south of Hanoi.
Some of Foxconn’s iPad and MacBook assembly are reportedly being moved from China to Vietnam at Apple’s request.
