BANNOCKBURN, IL – December EMS orders were up 13.2% year-over-year and down 5.2% sequentially, says IPC.
North American EMS shipments for the month were up 13.5% compared to December 2019, an increase of 8.5% sequentially.
The book-to-bill ratio stands at 1.10. A ratio of more than one suggests current demand is ahead of supply, which is a positive indicator for sales growth over the next three to 12 months.
“The EMS market reported strong growth to close out 2020. Both orders and shipments showed double-digit growth over December 2019,” said Shawn DuBravac, IPC’s chief economist. “For the year, bookings outpaced shipments, a trend that continued in the month of December. A small back order in shipments should balance in the first quarter.”
